The Future's in Our Hands
 by Linda Brehmer, Director

Each day we touch the future....
with what we try to share,
with all the little people....
that are in our daily care.

Those small and tender hands...
hold on to us each day,
to guide and teach them...
by what we have to say.

We have a chance to touch a child....
by what we say and do,
and make a difference in a life...
by giving little clues.

Each time we tell them to listen...
and speak clearly...when they talk,
it helps to give them confidence...
so that they...can walk the walk.

And when we teach them...
to wait their turn...and share,
we're showing them that....patience....is really only fair.

So will it be today...
for the very first time,
that the scissors in that little hand...
will cut along the line.

Or will it be that he learns...
to think of others first,
or feel the pain of dealing...
with life's little hurts.

These little lives depend on us...
to help show them the way,
and we hope that they in turn...
pass on the gift one day.

For the future is not cast in stone...
or written in the sands,
It's only what we make of it....
it's clearly in our hands.
